History of prostitution


1911 : In Nederland, laws forgiven brothels

1946 : In France, the Marthe Richard law let to close all brothels

1948 : Kenya government feared by the enrichment and autonomy of prostitutes, they refuse them in their village of origin and imprison all single girls able to prostitute them. Many states in Africa do the same thing

2 December 1949 : International Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and of the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others. De Gaulle ratified it in 1960

1968 : In Australia, an official law want to limit prostitution aggravates the situation of prostitute on the repression and the addiction.

1969 : In Switzerland, prostitute are prohibited to do a active soliciting. They have a health insurance, and they paid some tax like any trader.

1970 : A American prostitute, Margo Saint James create in San Francisco an association COYOTE to claim their right.

1975 : In Lyon, some prostitute write to police to denounce unfair law enforcement. But they never answer.

1977 : Prostitute of Lyon go in Paris to be heard.

1978 : MP of Paris proposes a re opening of brothels, but everybody was against.

1985 : Nederland abolishes law forgiven brothels in 1911.

1986 : Second congress in Bruxelles in European parliament. At the same time, The UNESCO does a congress against human traffic and declares that prostitution is not a job.

1990 : In Chine, prostitution contribute to the spread of venereal diseases, so government decided to treat prostitutes and their clients to healing. In South East Asia, prostitution leads thousands of children to be sell. In France, Health minister proposes the reopening of brothels, failure.

1992 : In Algeria, prostitution become illegal because the traditional prostitution establish by socialist system is finished.

1998 : In Milan, a law forgive all negotiation with a prostitute.
